How to Draw a Cactus
Welcome to Stinky's Art Class. We have the best students in the world. Todays lesson is how to draw a cactus.
Good morning people and welcome to Stinky's Art Class where we have the best students in the world! Today's lesson is how to draw a cactus.
And before we start, I just want to say I'm grateful for all the students who are watching my videos and learning how to draw with me. I think you're great and I want to see you do the best you can.
One of the things I've been thinking about is possibly, you know, artists kind of want artists. They like to, you know, stick together. Right? Because we're, you know, we're like a family and friends and we all like art. And so it's good to be friends with other artists that encourage you. So if you have someone that's encouraging you to do art, then that's great.
Sometimes people will try to discourage you, but you just have to let it go and just focus on, you know, what kind of an artist you want to be and just keep drawing. Okay, that's enough pep talk. I know I'm getting a little talky here. Let's go ahead and let's draw a cactus. Okay, so the first thing you want to do is you want to draw the center of the cactus and it's kind of prickly.
Okay? It's got prickles, so you got to draw those. So you can make them thick or thin. And it's like a purple cactus. And then they have another one that's not quite as long, it goes up here.
Okay, go and do that and then they kind of got this color. Things like that. Okay, they got some texture. The last one texture. Then you have another one. Okay, then the prickles, the thorns. Oh, the big one. Okay, so I have these little textures. And they come down here on the ground. You're going to see that. Okay, they're prickly. Yeah, that's pretty long.
Okay and then we want to, you know, this is a desert, so we want to put something in the background. We got lots of cactuses in the desert where they grow. No, I should draw these little cactuses before because you see that line going through there. But they're shaded in which makes it so sometimes you make mistakes in your art. You know, it's okay to make mistakes in your art. You know, because your art is open for interpretation, for critique.
Okay? You can make an even shadow, see? Yeah in art, you can always fix things. You heard about the shadows, right? You want to put a blazing hot sun? I know I've been drawing a lot of suns lately.
The more pokey on the sun, that means the hotter it is. Okay, like the heat coming off of it almost looks like a star. I know. Okay, so that's the lesson on how to draw a cactus. I hope everybody is doing well. I know I gave a long pep talk in the beginning. Hopefully you made it through to the end.
Some people been saying, "hey, Stinky, why are you trying to sell digital art? I thought you were a real artist." You know, you're doing real art on the cardboard. Now, you want to try to do digital artwork. Well, you know, then they start saying, you know, "hey, Stinky, you just want to sell digital art so you can buy a Lamborghini." Well, that ain't true.
I'm doing it for my students so they can have a collectible and, you know, the art goes up in value. Then they can sell it. Students can buy a Lamborghini. I don't need one. And so anyways, check out Stinky's Art Gallery on OpenSea. You can also buy them on my website if you just want to support us in the class. And stay tuned for another drawing. You're all are the best students in the world. Thanks, bye.
